Dining in Luxury

Is this dining room not completely GORGEOUS?  I love the mix of the white with the dark browns and golds, and the fun pops of color with the blue lamps and the red bowl.  I could definitely picture myself serving Christmas dinner in this beautiful room.

Fall Flavored Rooms

Even though it is not technically fall for a few more weeks, after Labor Day hits, I basically consider it fall. So why not start decorating your house with some rich fall colors?  Fall truly is my favorite season...I love the colors, the clothes, and the weather.  My favorite outfit is to be able to wear jeans, a cardigan, and some cute boots.  Hopefully, that fall weather will get here soon.  For now, check out these beautiful fall-colored rooms.

Posh Dining

Its no secret that pink is my favorite color.  Other than white and grey...which aren't exactly colors.  :) But anyways, I love seeing pink in a room.  Although it does make some rooms uber-feminine, it gives other rooms a perfect class and posh feel.  Like this beautiful dining room.

Gorgeous, isn't it?  Those pink chairs are to die for.  I also love how the turquoise vase was added for an extra pop of color.  The mirrored table it is sitting on is also stunning.

Quick update on my life...I officially moved out of my old place last weekend and moved into my new place on Monday.  I have been unable to be at the new place all week until today, so I came back today to a tornado of furniture, boxes, suitcases, etc.  I've spent all day unpacking, trying to find a new place for everything, and trying to get settled.  The family room and kitchen have made major strides.  The bedroom...not so much.  Wish me luck as a continue the huge task of unpacking!

Most Beautiful Room

Dining Room Difficulties

I love dining rooms.  They often have so much elegance and beauty, but I feel like they are frequently the formal room of the house that is never used, except for holidays and other special occasions.  When I was growing up, we never ever used our dining room.  If I had a beautiful dining space, I think I would try to use it a lot more than just on special occassions.  Why let such a beautiful space in the house go to waste?

I feel like I will have a lot of trouble decorating my future dining room.  There are so many different styles of furniture made for them, and I love so many different styles.  I have a huge file of dining rooms I love saved on my computer, and each time I flip through them I am amazed with the different styles.  However, I seem to love each style more than the next...I'll never be able to choose!  (good thing I've got some time before I've got a dining room of my own to decorate...)

Check out this pretty room.  I love the simplicity yet it definitely has an elegant feel.

There is one thing I am certain will be in my future dining room...a big beautiful chandelier!

Easter Brunch

Who's excited for Easter?  I for one can't wait.  This year, I decided to give up all sweets AND all chips for Lent, and this 40 days has been long and hard.  Normally, I just give up sweets, and that alone is difficult enough.  This year, the chips have been killer.  And the second you decide to give something up, you only want it 100 times more.  I made a special request that the Easter bunny bring me a bag of chips, and I will be quite thrilled.  Yum

But speaking of brunch, check out these dining areas.  Wouldn't these rooms make your Easter morning a whole lot brighter (particularly if you're in the Chicagoland area and the sun has decided to hate us and disappear forever)

Screaming Spring

Well if this room doesn't scream spring, I don't know what does!!

Love the hot pink.  Not a room that would actually work for most people, but the picture sure does make me smile.

We're supposed to reach upper 80s today in Chicago, so I'm hoping to get to enjoy some of this beautiful weather!!

I Want...

Happy New Year everyone!  Can you believe that 2010 is already over?  I certainly can't!  What a good year it was, but I am so excited for this next year!  I'm working on a resolutions post, hopefully I will have it finished tomorrow.  I'm currently enjoying the rest of winter break by watching Dexter 24/7, I just got into the show and I'm totally hooked.  I watched almost an entire season yesterday.  Gotta love these lazy days.

Anywho...I wnated to share a little picture with you that makes me drool every time I see it.  One day, one day...this will be on a wall in my house.  Or so I hope.  I already have a seriously love affair with leaning bookshelves, and this one just maximizes its full potential.  Love love love.  

Seriously...look at that beauty.  Sheer perfection if you ask me.  I love the spots for the wine, the glasses, and just all of that open storage.  I hate having to put pretty dishes hidden away in a cabinet, and this is the perfect way to display them.

Designer Lust: Christina Murphy

Christina Murphy-Love at first sight.  Seriously, every time I look at her portfolio, my heart melts a little bit and it makes me want to jump up and change my whole apartment.  Or just sit and stare at the pictures all day.  I love her use of bold, bright colors, but it still looks elegant and not at all flashy.  Some of my favs (beware...there are many):

It's no secret that I absolutely love Candice Olson. Seriously, love. I just recently got DVR, and I have every episode of Divine Design recording whenever it is on. Great thing for me to watch at night before I fall asleep. I just came across a few images of hers, and they have left me stunned as always.

Hello beautiful! I love all the mirrored glass, it looks so elegant. I think this would be the most stunning dressing table.

Welcome to my dining room...I WISH! Black and white are my favorite colors together, and I love when dark furniture is mixed with light furniture. I think it brings such depth to the room. I love the wingback chairs at the ends of the dining table, and that chandelier is simply divine :)

Dark Blue

In honor of yet another rainy day outside, I thought we could look at some pretty dark blue rooms. The color just seems to match the weather. Not that I'm saying that dark blue rooms are dreary, but the color is just sticking in my mind today.

I like the collection of picture on the wall in this cute little bedroom. And the shudder window covers are the perfect accessory to add some elegance in the room and to give the whole room a brighter feel.

Although I think there is a little too much blue in this room for me, I absolutely love the bedding, especially those gorgeous blue pillows. And I do like the wall color and I believe that the inside of the draping around the bed is the same color blue. Very pretty. I would just have to go with a lighter carpet, probably white.

I know that I have been posting several picture of colored room, but today you are going to see my real love...white rooms. I absolutely love the look of all white rooms. Of course, some punches of color are nice, but the all-white looks so cheerful and romantic.

Purple

For a long time, I seriously hated the color purple, but the color is beginning to grow on me and I've seen some fabulous dark purple rooms lately that I've absolutely loved!

I love the wood paneling painted purple, the old vintage painting on the wall, the mismatched dining tables (especially that white couch), and the chandelier that makes the best finishing touch! Basically everything about this room I love...except that it is not in my own house!
