The Perfect Secretary

Prepare to rest your eyes on the most perfect secretary desk ever:
I just love the combination of the dark and white wood! Plus the grey chair and the grey stripe on the curtains are just a perfect match.

I also love the sunburst clock.  Its the ultimate study.

The Flood: Part 2

Its been about 4 days since The Flood, and we still have so much work to do.  I am absolutely exhausted, I don't think I've ever been so tired in my whole life.  Today was my first day back at work...so my day is work, go home and work on the house, then head to my aunt's to sleep because I no longer have a bedroom.  Usually before I go to bed, I try to catch up on emails and blogging, plus I am still trying to catch up on laundry that got wet during the flood.  Utterly exhausting.

I wanted to leave you with some more pictures of the flood.
The bar.  Which coincidentally we were enjoying just a few hours before.  :(
The couch.  Which has since been cut up using a saw and thrown out.
My bathroom.  The cabinet still has to be ripped out.
My poor, poor beloved desk.
Lovely, eh?

I'll try to post pictures soon of what the basement looks like now.  We have the carpet up, drywall out, and mostly emptied out.  Insurance inspectors are coming tomorrow, so hopefully we can start the remodel soon.  Fingers crossed!

Pink Living

I am totally crushing on this living room right now.  Perhaps because it looks so put together and peaceful, whereas the rest of my life is the exact opposite.
I really love the mix of colors and textures, I think they all look fabulous together.  Of course I love the bright pink patterned chairs.  Its a look of peace to me right now!

The Flood

Well...I've been a bit absent around here lately, and let me share with you why.  On Friday night/Saturday morning, the area in Illinois where I live experienced by largest amount of rain in the shortest amount of time since they have started keeping track of rainfall.  Which was a long time ago.  I'm not exactly sure how long it rained, but we got 7 inches.  SEVEN INCHES! That is a ton.  And this is the result:
View from the stairway into the basement.
The TV area.
My poor, poor bedroom.

Our power went out that night about 2:00 am, so we were scrambling around in the pitch black trying to rescue what we could from downstairs.  Let me tell you...not fun.  But I must say, I'm pretty impressed with the flash on my camera.

So now, we are left with tons and tons of work and recovery.  I'll post more pictures within the next few days so you can see more of the devastation we are facing.  Keeps us in your prayers please.  We're going to need them.

EdenFantasys: O-Award Winners

If you've been following my blog for any length of time, then you know how much I love EdenFantasys.  In fact, many other people must love them too, as they were recently awarded the O-Award for Outstanding Online Retailer!  How awesome!  The O-Award is awarded to online adult retailers who accomplish outstanding things in the adult industry, including having outstanding brands, products, and customer service!

As if that doesn't sound like reason enough to love them, let me share with you some reasons why EdenFantasys is one of my favorite online shops!

1. I definitely agree that they carry fabulous brands and products.  The sheer amount of products can be mind-boggling, you can get lost searching for just the right product.  Which I love.  I hate being limited.  And they seriously have something for everyone.
2. I can't say I've ever had to deal with EdenFantasys customer service before, but that is probably because it is AWESOME!  I've always received my packages super quickly, everything has always been shipped, nothing missing from the order, nothing broken.  Its awesome!
3. Free gift with any purchase.  Nothing makes me happier than getting something for free.  And getting something for free with EVERY purchase is awesome.
4. Discrete shipping.  Which is a must in my book.  I don't need the whole world guessing whats inside.  Its my business, not anybody elses.

So head on over and check out EdenFantasys, where I swear you will love what you find.  Put that O-Award to the test...you won't be disappointed!

Stainless Steel Backsplash

I feel like this gorgeous stainless steel backsplash fits my design style perfectly.  A bit modern, with sparkle and elegance.  I would love to do a similar backsplash with a big farmhouse sink and some a beautiful faucet.  I love the gleam of the stainless steel...elegant without looking at all industrial.

The PERFECT Laundry Room

Want to see my idea of perfection?
This beauty stopped me dead in my tracks.  Seriously...pinch me.  Perfect sink, perfect faucets, perfect light, perfect basket, perfect rug.  Oh my goodness, there is not a single thing wrong with this room.

Other than the fact that it is not mine. :(

A New Room

As I said in my last post, I'm moving in two weeks.  Weeee!  I seriously can't wait! I'm going to be living in a beautiful apartment overlooking Lake Michigan.  The view is stunning.  But one of the best things about moving is getting to decorate a whole new space and make it your own.  One of the worst things is packing, but thats not the point of this post.

I've recently decided to order new bedding for my new bedroom.  It just so happens that this will be my 4th bedding set in 4 years.  Yeah...oops.  I kind of have an obsession with buying new bedding.  I really love the set I bought last year, its black and white damask, but I decided I want a change.  Wanna see what is soon to be gracing my bed?
I love it.  I've been wanting grey bedding, but everything I was finding had some sort of obnoxious print or pattern.  Mostly like tree branches or other things.  Really not my style.  This is crisp and clean, and I love it.  I have the entire bedding set sitting in my cart, I just have to get up off the couch to get my credit card to order it.

Also, after a lot of hunting, I finally found a beautiful sunburst mirror that will be hanging above my bed.  I really wanted to get an upholstered headboard, but because I have a knack of changing my mind, I decided a wall decoration would be a better choice for now.  I'll definitely be posting pictures once I move!

Its Official...

I'm a REGISTERED NURSE!! woohoo!  I took the NCLEX, which is the nursing licensure exam, on Friday, and was able to get my results today.  A big fat PASS!
I cannot even explain how excited and relieved I am!  I feel like I can finally enjoy the rest of my summer, besides applying for jobs.  I am moving in two weeks, and was able to pack up almost my entire apartment between yesterday and today.  I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, and it is going to be a great rest of the summer!

For now, I am off to celebrate my new title :)

Outdoor Living

Today in Chicago it is hot, humid, and sticky...one of those days where I generally avoid going outside unless I have to.  However, seeing this beautiful porch makes me want an outdoor space where I can curl up with a stack of magazines (now that my NCLEX is over), or with a new book on my Kindle.
I love the bright pillows on the white couches and those beautiful glass chandeliers.  Looks like the perfect place to lounge the day away with a good book and an icy glass of lemonade!

And I died and went to designer Heaven.

EdenFantasys

Its time for another post about my favorite online shop, EdenFantasys.  If you haven't checked out the site before, EdenFantasys is an online shop that carries all of your adult needs.  Seriously...this site is awesome! They have something for everyone, and tons of great offers.  They have amazing sales, free shipping on all orders over $59, and the shipping is very quick and discrete.  You can get a free gift with every purchase, and right now, they are offering your choice of 5 different gifts! How awesome is that?

One thing that I've been dying to get from EdenFantasys is the Devine playchest, which is a super cute chest for storing all of your toys and other accessories.  It seems like the perfect size, and offers great storage!  The only thing I'm waiting for is the black chest to be back in stock, and then it will be mine!
Seriously...how cute is that?

Another thing I love about EdenFantasys is that they display product reviews and comments from real people right on the products page, so you can hear what others had to say about your potential purchase. For instance, people have said this chest is great for storage, but that the lock isn't really a strong lock.  For me, that would be okay, but for others, this wouldn't be the right storage option for them.  Its great to read real reviews from real people!

So check out EdenFantasys today, I guarantee you...you will not be disappointed!

The Perfect Office

I'm still studying away for my big nursing licensure exam on Friday, so I will probably be quite absent this week.  Between work and studying, I've got a very full plate until then.  However, during my study break today, I found the most perfect office space that I just had to share.
Is this not perfect?
I love the pink and the green...that rug is amazing, I love the mirrored side table, the sunburst mirror...even the garbage can! I want :)

Studying in the Summer?

Studying any time of the year can be difficult, but in the summer, it is nearly impossible.  I have my nursing licensure exam exactly one week from today, and studying is getting to be harder and harder.  I would much rather be going out and doing fun things than sitting inside review notes and taking practice tests online.  No fun :(

Perhaps if I had a beautiful library, studying would be just slightly more tolerable.
This space is just stunning.  I love the pink lamp against the dark colors of the bookshelves.
Such a cozy place.  I could sit in that chair and read for hours.
Although that couch might be more conductive to a good nap instead of studying, this room makes me want to pull out my Kindle and start a good book.

Seeing Black, White, and Red

Do you love this room as much as I do?  Its no secret that I love black and white, but I am really loving the red carpet.  Red is not usually one of my favorite colors, but I like the design of the carpet, and I think it looks great with the white furniture.  Plus, that antler lighting fixture is awesome, as is the extra-tall headboard!!

Bathroom Luxury

I feel like I frequently post about bathrooms, but they really can be such a beautiful place within the home.  Often times, they are overlooked, as a place you only pop in and out of, but in reality, that is far from true.  Bathrooms offer a place to relax, a place where you can soak in the tub uninterrupted for hours or the perfect place in the morning to get ready for the day.  I love huge master bathrooms, and I hope one day I am fortunate enough to have a large space of my own.
I love the glass and all the blue hues.  This looks like the ultimate place for relaxation.
Such great storage for a small bathroom.  Even in a large space, this is great to add cute little decorations.  Definitely adds to the spa-like atmosphere.
Light green with dark colors is always another relaxing atmosphere.  I love that huge tub!
A bit cluttered, but so beautiful! I love the large black and white pictures in the gold frame.
Such a great storage idea for small bathrooms again.  Free-floating shelves are a great idea!
Holy huge.  And beautiful.  I'd never leave.
A fireplace in the bathroom would be so nice for cold Chicago winters.  You could soak in that huge tub, and not be freezing when you get out.
