Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween my friends!
I hope you had a wonderful day filled with tricks, treats, and lots of fun :)

Living in Grey

I love grey.  It is such a beautiful color, with so many different shades, and really pairs nicely with just about anything.  Except maybe brown.  But I have dreams of a beautiful house decorated in grey and white...hopefully one day I will be able to make these dreams reality.
I love this room.  While I think it is a little too overboard with all the furniture, the shades of grey make me happy.  I would ditch the chest and all the accessories on top, and leave that beautiful cushioned ottoman.  I particularly love the tufted couch and the pair of striped chairs.

Last Minute Halloween Decorations

Can you believe tomorrow is Halloween?  I certainly can't.  It seems like summer just ended, and yet it is already almost time to start getting ready for the winter holidays.  Yikes!!

If you are having a last minute Halloween get together, check out some of these adorable, super easy decorations.  Like I always say, the decorations really help make the party...so make it a memorable night!
Half a pumpkin filled with ice...perfect festive way to keep drinks cold.
I've seen this pumpkin idea a few times this year, and it is so darn cute! Cut a whole and insert plastic vampire teeth...thats the easiest pumpkin carving you'll ever do!
Glue some black face cutouts on orange balloons.  Simple but very festive.
This would be so fun for an adult Halloween party! Black lights around the bar make for a spooky, fun atmosphere.
Fill hard with colored water and creepy things you find around the house.  Spooky specimen jars for your guests to wonder over.
Dip mini pumpkins in glitter.  Cute and sparkly way to decorate any room.
Tape a ghost cutout over a mirror for a surprise reflection!
Use goggly eyes to make some fun, goofy pumpkins!

I hope you have a safe and fun Halloween!!

Gold Bedroom

Isn't this bedroom just lovely?  The rich gold fabric and the dark wood make the room feel so fall-y to me.  But it is so cozy, the perfect bedroom for a cold fall night!

I normally shy away from gold, but this room is making me start to change my mind.

Getaway Dreaming

As the chilly fall and winter weather approaches, I find myself dreaming of a vacation.
On a grey day like today, this gorgeous view is calling my name.  I would love to curl on one of those chairs with a frozen drink and a good back in my hand.  I love the bright yellow and orange color combos, it look so pretty against the lush greenery all around!!

Wheres your favorite place to vacation?

Stripes in the Kitchen

I LOVE this striped chair bench at the island.  So original, and makes the perfect fun pop of pattern.  Plus, that light over the kitchen and the backsplash is pretty darn awesome too!

Orange Rooms

With the weather getting cooler, the leaves falling, and Halloween just around the corner, the color orange has certainly been on my mind a lot lately.  Normally, it is not a color that I tend to favor, but lately, I have been loving it.  Especially when used in the home.  Check out some of these fabulous orange rooms.
Love love love this pop of color in the dining room! It looks especially beautiful with the gold sunburst mirror (which I also think is fabulous by the way)
Using orange on one wall is a great way to bring this bold color into any room.  I like how they balance it with an orange painting on the opposite wall.  Plus, check out those cute orange chairs on the patio.
Chair cushions can be a great way to bring a fun pop of color into an otherwise neutral kitchen.
Using orange pillow and blankets is a great accessory that brings in color, and can easily be changed with the seasons.  Such an easy way to mix up a room.
I love this orange seating area! The rustic orange chairs look fabulous against the white fireplace.
Another use of orange as an accent wall color.

Tell me...do you have any orange in your house?

Arranging Shelves

I love bookshelves.  I think they are so fabulous for storage, and can also be a wonderful decorative accent to your house.  If you don't particularly need them for storage, they can be decorated so beautifully, and are the perfect home for some of the cool trinkets we all end up with.
I love the way these shelves are arranged.  It is symmetric without being perfect, and are not too over-loaded.  I love all the pictures placed on the shelves.  So beautiful!!

Pretty Little Sink

Is this not gorgeous?! I love the shape of the sink, and I extra love that the faucet is spouting water from the mirror! I could probably never pull this off in my own home, but for now, I'll just look at this and drool.

Plus, that tile backsplash is amazing!

Wanted: White Dresser

Holy cow...who knew how difficult it would be to find a dresser these days?  So as I told you earlier, when my house flooded in July, we basically lost all of our furniture in the basement.  Which is where my bedroom is.  I need a new bed, dresser, and desk.  I had very nice built-in bookshelves that needed to be replaced on the bottom.  We've made significant progress in the basement...we have walls again, and they are painted...now we are waiting for the carpet to be installed!  So now it is time for me to order furniture.

I've already found a desk I love, so basically all I need to find is a dresser.  But finding a dresser is gosh darn impossible.  I don't want to get a very expensive one in case we flood again.  I had a very simple white dresser before that wasn't super expensive, but it held up great and I had it for years.

I want a taller 5 drawer dresser.  White...easy and simple.  Except not! Everything is either way to expensive, or I'm afraid that it is going to be too cheap.  Whats a girl to do?
This is my front runner right now.  Its from Amazon, has decent reviews, and is the color I want.  I wish there were two knobs on each drawer instead of one, but for the price I can't be too picky I guess.  I wish Ikea had some better dressers, it makes me nervous to order one without seeing it, but I'm out of luck in the stores.

Any other ideas for me?  Have you purchased a somewhat inexpensive dresser online and loved it?  Help!!

Halloween Festivities

Can you believe it is already time to start thinking about Halloween?  Where is time going?!
I've always loved Halloween.  It is such a fun holiday whether you are young or old...and seriously is one of the most creative holidays.  Now that I'm older, I can really appreciate all the amazing Halloween home decorations people do...everyone is so creative!  If you are throwing a Halloween party this year, check out some of my favorite ideas by who other than Ms. Martha Stewart.
Love these invites! My aunt did this one year and they turned out sooo cute!
Coffin tables
Monster buffet table.  This would be cute for a kids party.
Mystery specimens in apothecary jars?  I also love the collection of silhouettes hanging on the walls.
Whats that in the punchbowl?
Eyeball cocktails! THis would definitely be a conversation starter!

What are your favorite Halloween traditions?

Brownstone Entry

One of my absolute favorite magazines is Martha Stewart Living.  It is always full of creative ideas, yummy recipes, and gives me tons of inspiration with each new issue.  Recently, the Martha Stewart Living editor in chief Pilar Guzman's beautiful Brooklyn Brownstone was featured.  Although the entire house was beautiful, this entryway had me flipping back again and again to take it all in.  I LOVE it!
This room gets an A++ in my opinion!
