Two More Headboards...

I have two more headboards that I'm just dying to share with y'all.  They are upholstered, which I totally love, and I think they both look completely fabulous.  Do you agree?

Love the simple grey stripe around the headboard...it adds a subtle, classy effect.  And I adore that starburst mirror over the headboard.  Perfection.

I really love this headboard in contrast with the wall paper.  It is elegant, and makes the room feel very special.

Bedrooms Galore

Its no secret I love interior design.  I can spend hours looking through images online, saving images I like, and simply staring at certain beautifully designed rooms.  I have a huge collection of images saved onto my computer, images that I hope will be inspiration to me in the future.  Currently, I've been going over images of bedrooms like crazy.  Perhaps with spring in the air, I'm ready for some spring cleaning, and would love to make a change in my own bedroom.

Headboards have been my recent crazy lately, because they can really add such a change to your bedroom.   Of course, headboards range in price from fairly inexpensive to mega bucks, but they really can be a quick change to your room, offering that fix you have been looking for.  Check out some of these beautiful headboards.

Wall decals!  These can be fairly inexpensive, and can super quick change if desired!  With so many different decals out right now, I'm sure you could find something that suits your desire.  I love the flowers with the color scheme in this room.  It adds a pop of fun while adding some definite visual interest.

I'm not one to shy away from traditional wooden headboards that are part of a bedding set.  I think they look elegant and beautiful.  This room adds a fun pop above the headboard with the moose head.  Don't be afraid to add an unexpected element of fun into the bedroom.

I honestly love everything about this room, but the grandness of the bed is just stunning.  It truly is beautiful.  The simple bedding perfectly arranged adds to the beauty.  I wish I could have a bed like this.

Get creative.  Distressed old doors make a perfect headboard in this room.  Find objects that you can restore.  Repaint them, or leaving them in their original state, can really add some elements of interest into your room.

This headboard was done by framing squares of fabric into simple frames.  The look is fun and cheerful, and would be very easy to change!

I LOVE the pop of color added by this headboard.  Don't be afraid to experiment with colors and textures. It can make all the difference in the world when you're trying to design your perfect space.

Again, a pop of green in an otherwise black and white room adds visual interest and some warmth with the color.

A large headboard for an obviously large room.  It is important to pay attention to scale when choosing a headboard, making sure it looks proportionate to the other furniture that will be in the room.

I love this headboard.  It is simple, but makes a statement.  Those gray pillows have me drooling as well.

This headboard extends vertically way beyond the edges of the bed.  I like it.

Does that not just look peaceful and relaxing?  Definitely a place where you could get a good nights sleep!

Beautiful Bedrooms

Do you like your bedroom?  I think bedrooms are an awesome place to decorate, but so many people overlook this space because it is usually not a space for "company."  Parents particularly seem to forget about decorating their bedroom, focusing instead on their children's bedrooms and the other common spaces in the house.  However, your bedroom should be a luxurious place where you can relax and rest, no matter how big or small the room may be.  Check out some of these beautiful bedrooms.

This space looks elegant and luxurious, with clean decorations and everything in its place.  It is welcoming and warm, and would be a nice place to relax.  I love that mirror over the bed.

Hello pretty.  I love the grey and white pattern on the fireplace, and that huge picture of the flowers really makes a statement on the dark walls.  In a room this large, the dark walls really work, and aren't overwhelming at all.

This bedroom is so bright and cheery, it would make it difficult to wake up on the wrong side of the bed.  :)  I love the framed picture being stool on an easel instead of on the wall, because this is cute and makes it look original.

Headboards

Do you have a headboard on your bed?  Many people do, but many people don't...and I think that is a huge missed opportunity.  Headboards give you a chance to really bring an extra something into your bedroom, and can be used to add a fun pop of color, an intricate detail, or just be downright pretty.  HGTV has some pretty fabulous headboard ideas I was dying to share with you!

This is only of my favorite bedrooms...and I love the splash of green that comes from the headboard.  It gives this room a perfect pop of color with the black, white, and pink.  Very unexpected.

Another fun pop of color.  Upholstered headboards can be seen all over the place now, and I must agree...they really are fabulous.

Stacking different squares with a fun pattern really brings life to this room.  I love that the headboard is wider than the actual bed.  The pattern really adds a bit of art to the room, without having to hang a painting.

Another pop of color.  Matching pillows to the headboard is a great way to incorporate the color into the overall feel of the bedroom.

I love the height of this headboard.  It works in suck an obviously large room.  In a smaller room, it would probably be overwhelming.  The neutral colors also help to prevent it from being too much of a statement.

Quite the way to add some visual interest.  By making headboards at home, you really have all the options in the world at your fingertips.  You are free to arrange as you want and to let those creative juices flow...allowing you to end up with some really neat results.

I love this room.  It is so peaceful.  I love the large rectangular headboard that is flanked with the vertical hanging lights.  This looks like the perfect place to curl up with a good book as you're drifting off to sleep.

Don't be afraid to experiment with shapes.  This can give you a really dramatic, and elegant, look.

I love how long and narrow the second headboard is.  Layering two headboards is also a great way to add visual interest.

Another double headboard.  By adding the back blue panels, you get some height to the bed, which helps to balance it out against the high ceilings and the huge space.

Slant your headboard! I think this is really unique, and totally changes the feel of the bedroom!

Using a bold pattern that extends all the way to the ceiling is bold, but be careful...make sure your room is large enough so that it doesn't become overwhelming.

Getting Organized: Bedroom/Closet

Day 2 in our mission to get organized.  And today we will work with the bedrooms and closets.  Keeping my bedroom and closet organized is usually hardest for me.  I often have too many things and not nearly enough space for everything, especially in the closet.  This results in me shoving things in places, and constantly being unhappy with how it looks or how difficult it is to find things.  This leads to constant reorganization, until I get frustrated and just do the same thing again and again.  My goal for this year is really going to be to find the best way to organize all my my clothes and accessories.  And maybe get rid of things too...

Anyways, here are some wonderful closet and bedroom storage/organization ideas.

I LOVE this idea...but have nowhere near enough room to due it.  Install some molding to your walls about 1-1.5 feet apart, and use this as a space to display all of your heels, as well as hang clothes out for that day/week.  This is a fabulous way to easily display all your shoes, so you never forget about the pair that gets buried at the bottom of the closet.

Buy/make a shadow box and line it with some pretty paper or fabric.  Use it to store your jewelry.  You could also use these as wonderful places to store things like perfumes.  

Under the bed storage on wheels.  This is such a great idea.  You could store extra blankets/bedding, or store clothes that are for the opposite season.  Being on wheels, it would be easy to pull in and out.

Use a ladder-shelf for a nightstand.  This allows your to maximize the storage in the area next to your bed, and also has a fabulous design element.

Another great way to hang your jewelry.  I love having the dowel rod on the bottom to hang scarves.  Hanging some rope across the door really maximizes the storage space by allowing you to hang all your earring, without really taking up space in the cabinet.

Apply felt to hangers.  This makes for a no-slip grip.  Perfect for hanging dresses, tanks, or shirts with wide necks.

Hang a laundry hamper on the back of a door to maximize floor space.  To ensure that it is always open, use an embroidery hoop.  Easy-peasy.

Acrylic boxes make the perfect storage space for ties, belts, watches, and small accessories that are easily lost.  You could stack them as well, as long as you don't forget about what's underneath.

I've seen this picture all over the blog world, and I think I've posted it on here a time or two, but I love it.  Use old brightly-colored tea cups and saucers for a pretty place to store jewelry.  Earrings can be hung over the edges of the cups, necklaces and bracelets can be laid in the cups or in the saucers...the possibilities are endless!

Install pedboards on closet walls.  This allows for easy instillation of hooks, which can be used to hang belts, scarves, hats, bags, etc.

Safety pin a small piece of fabric on the mattress, easily visible each time you change your sheets.  This is an easy reminder of when you have to flip your mattress.

Use business card pocket holders to store buttons, excess thread, needles, etc. Keeping this in your closet or  dresser allows easy access when you loose a button or have a small tear in an item of clothing.

If you have a closet big enough, make yourself a little dressing area.  You can pick out outfits for the day or for the week, and line up shoes, accessories,etc.  Having wide shelving allows you to store random objects, and gives the area a very elegant, chic feel.

This is such a cool idea.  On the outside, this looks like a basic armoire.  Open it up, and you can have a fabulous little crafting station, desk, etc.  You can simply close your mess when your done, and it keeps everything hidden.

Apply felt anti-scratch pads to hangers for a no-slip grip on pants.

Use wooden dividers on any shelving for neat storage stacks.  You can use this in linen closets to stack towels, sheets, etc. or in your bedroom to shack sweaters, tee-shirts, pants, or whatever else you need.  These are cheap and available any any home store, like Home Depot.

Sweet Dreams

I'm taking a little break from all the Christmas posts today to show you this beautiful bedroom that I am totally drooling over.

Do you just love it as much as I do?  Love the headboard, love the subtle print on the walls...the chandelier is fabulous, and those chairs are beautiful!! It is just a perfect bedroom.  The big window lets in lots of light, and makes it so inviting!  Perfection.
